Economist, Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from March 2007 to August 2008. Since 2004, he has been Professor of Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2024, together with Daron Acemoğlu and James A. Robinson, he received the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences “for studies of how institutions are formed and influence wealth”.
