Didactic modules – Vom Wissen zum Handeln

The Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy has developed extensive learning materials from the contents of the book series on the future of the Earth. These serve as a basis for educational measures on the subject of “Sustainable Development” in universities, schools and companies, among others.
Each didactic module (loose-leaf collection) contains background information (Part 1) for teachers and comprehensive working materials (Part 2).
The background information summarizes the key messages and shows how the topics are interlinked. Using the methodically diverse materials, the participants develop solutions, perspectives and options for action, usually closely linked to their own living environment. The materials promote forward-looking and networked thinking, the ability to take an interdisciplinary approach as well as participation and communication skills. The didactic modules have been developed as “open development scenarios”.

Sustainable Change degree program

Since 2016, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld at Trier University of Applied Sciences has been offering a degree course with tailor-made, company-specific and practice-oriented expertise: the part-time Master’s degree course “Sustainable Change – From Knowledge to Action (M.A.)” is an interdisciplinary degree course for sustainable development. With the pillars “Ecology and Technology”, “Economics”, “Sociology, Politics and Ethics” and a “Studium Generale”, the course design offers a practical overview of the fundamentals of sustainability from a wide range of perspectives.

The course has a strong interdisciplinary focus. The aim is to combine subject-specific expertise with a high degree of universal knowledge in the field of sustainability. A special feature is the cooperation between the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and the European Academy Otzenhausen.
