Daron Acemoglu is an economist and university lecturer. He has taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since 1993, where he is the Elizabeth and James Killian Professor of Economics. He was appointed Institute Professor in 2019. In 2024, together with Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson, he was awarded the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences “for studies of how institutions are formed and influence wealth”.
