Based on a critical analysis of the present, architect Friedrich von Borries and urban planner Benjamin Kasten create an image of a city of the future that is more ecological and fairer than the city of the present. It is larger and denser, but also more open and greener – and it has a new political role. This city of the future has replaced the nation state as a space for identification. The global community is no longer organized by heads of state, but by mayors. This vision of a future world city is illustrated by numerous concrete examples.
