Forty years ago, a book shook the world’s belief in progress: the report “The Limits to Growth” to the Club of Rome. “The absolute limits to the earth’s growth will be reached within the next hundred years if humanity does not succeed in reducing its ecological footprint,” was its central thesis. Forty years later, the Club of Rome is once again making a big splash: “2052” is the name of the latest report. It outlines a future that will be very different from what we can imagine today.
