The world and us: Demographic catastrophe or sustainable development?

Two exciting opposing trends are determining the development of the world’s population: on the one hand, the population in European countries is shrinking. In other parts of the world, such as Africa or South East Asia, it is exploding. How do we meet this demographic challenge from a sustainability perspective?

This topic is the focus of the Sustainability Congress, which will take place in Hamburg on March 1, 2016. Dr. Auma Obama, founder and chairwoman of the Sauti Kuu Foundation in Nairobi, and the renowned population researcher Dr. Reiner Klingholz (Director of the Berlin Institute for Population and Development) as well as other experts from society, business, science and politics will be speaking.
