Didactic modules
This module focuses on the goals, strategies and instruments of a more sustainable economy. The starting point is the depiction of the Earth in 2020, assuming that today’s production and consumption patterns continue. The central question of the module, which is examined from different perspectives, is: Is a more sustainable economy compatible with economic growth? If so, what framework conditions are required? In addition, the module deals with the international dimension of the problem and discusses the cornerstones of a new world order: dealing with diversity, implementing the principle of justice and avoiding war.
On this basis, the goals of a more sustainable economy and the associated strategies (efficiency and sufficiency) are described. The focus is on the presentation of possible economic instruments that can work towards a more sustainable development of the economy. Among other things, the materials in the module deal with the problems of economic development forecasts and scenarios, fair trade, economic growth and the “eco-industry as an employment driver”.
