Wurzeln für die lebende Stadt

How we can strengthen the autonomy of urban districts and why they deserve more appreciation

When a person’s emotions and mind separate, we call this dissociation – a serious illness. Something similar can be observed in cities, a kind of social dissociation: citizens are natural emotional experts for their neighborhoods. But politics and administration have increasingly distanced themselves from them, retreating to higher levels such as districts or boroughs. This separation is a key cause of depoliticization and angry citizenship.

The completely new, practice-oriented approach presented here helps citizens as well as politicians, business and science to shape districts and cities in a sustainable and future-oriented way.
